Enjoying God

“Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart” (Psalm 37:4).

I have a friend who is as orthodox as they come, but they are such a chronic worriers that their six children fail to see the resemblance between the God they claim to follow and what they express through their life.

Do you really live what you profess? What type of person are you? What is your attitude toward God? Do you know Him? Do you
love Him? Do you live Him?

Anyone who has even a nodding acquaintance with the Westminster Catechism knows that “man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” Do you enjoy God? Psalm 37:4 tells us that we are to delight ourselves in the Lord. The Septuagint translation (the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures) has the most marvelous rendering of these words: “Indulge thyself with delight in the Lord.” Do you indulge yourself in the Lord? Do you enjoy the peace of sins forgiven?
