God is our strength.

”Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might”. – Ephesians 6:10.

When you say, “I can manage this problem by myself,” God says, “Okay, you do it then.” But when you say, “Help me, Lord! I need you. I cannot do this on my own,” God says, “Good, I have been waiting for you to say that. You cannot, but I can. Now, watch me!” That is how God is, He loves it when you depend on Him. You see, when you think that you are strong and don’t need God, He cannot help you. But when you need Him and look to Him, He will not leave you weak and helpless. He comes and becomes the strength of your life. He becomes the breakthrough that you need.

A man wanted to quit from smoking habit, he came to a counselor one day and said, “Please pray that God will help me. I want to stop my smoking habit.” The counselor told him simply, “You cannot, but God can.” He replied, “Yes, I know that I can’t. But with God’s help, I will discipline myself and try my best to quit the habit.” The counselor told him, “No, you cannot, but God can.” The counselor repeated this to him a few times until he realized that it was not his self-discipline or willpower that would help him overcome his smoking habit, but the power of God. He finally understood that true deliverance from this destructive habit would not come by his own strength, but by “being strong in the Lord and in the power of His might”. A few weeks later, he said, “Sir, since that day, I didn’t even try to stop myself from smoking. But each time I lit up, I told God, ‘I cannot, but you can.’ Then one day, the craving was gone! I has completely delivered from my bondage to nicotine!” This man experienced true deliverance, not just an outward form of discipline and willpower.

The Gift from God

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” – Ephesians 2:8.

We serve such a loving, gracious and generous God and He loves us so much that there isn’t anything He wouldn’t do in order to have a relationship with us. The Bible tells us that sin separates man from God. But God doesn’t want to be separated from us. That’s why He sent His Son into the world to pay the penalty for sin so that you and I could live in eternity with Him.

So many people today think they have to earn their way to heaven. They think they have to be “good enough” or “do the right thing” in order to be accepted by God. They want to “clean up” before they come to Him. But notice what today’s verse says salvation is a gift from God. You can’t earn a gift. You don’t pay for it. You can only receive it by faith. If you’ve never made Jesus the Lord of your life, I encourage you to receive this free gift. Let Him fill you with His eternal peace and joy so that you can live the abundant life He has for you.

Unlimited Supply

“And what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe…” – Ephesians 1:19.

If I had a thousand litres of water to give you but you only had a hundred litres container, you wouldn’t be able to receive what I had for you. The problem would not be with the supply. It would be with your ability to receive. If you would get rid of the small container and get something larger, I would be able to give you so much more.

It’s the same way with God. We might have a tendency to think, “That it may not be the right time. I could never afford that house I really want. My business will never expand due to competition, I don’t have the funding. I don’t have the people behind me.” No, you’ve got to get rid of that hundred litres container. Get rid of that small container. The God we serve is a big God! He has an unlimited supply. Jesus said, “According to your faith it will be done unto you.” It’s not according to God. God has all the power, all the resources in the world. It’s according to what we believe. Increase your capacity to receive. Enlarge your thinking by meditating on the Word of God. Praise Him and magnify Him because with God all things are possible.

Before creation

“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world…” – Ephesians 1:4

Did you know that God chose you before the foundations of the earth? Before the worlds were ever formed, He knew you. And, He didn’t create you to be average. He didn’t create you to barely get by. No, He created you to excel! Not only has He chosen you, but He has equipped you with everything you need to live and thrive in this life. He has deposited seeds of greatness inside every person. But in order to tap into those seeds of greatness, you have to believe this and act on it.

Too many people today are going around with low self-esteem, feeling inferior like they don’t have what it takes. But that is living a lie. And as long as we have a poor self-image, we’re not going to experience God’s best. In order to be all that God has called us to be, we have to see ourselves as chosen, valuable and victorious. Today, meditate on this truth. Let it sink down deep into your heart. Let it build confidence and security in you. As you understand your value in the eyes of God, you’ll be empowered to live the life of victory He has prepared for you.

Seeing the Potential in Others

“…Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out” – Ephesians 6:18

It’s easy to be someone’s friend when they’ve got it all together, when they’re walking in blessing and prosperity. Anybody can believe in people after they’re successful, after they graduate, after they’re promoted, after they get their big break. But, people need our support the most before they get their breakthrough. They need us to look past their faults and failures and see their potential.

Most times, people just need a little “push” of encouragement to keep them moving forward. We should always put ourselves in the other person’s shoes and see things from their perspective. You may have some good advice that could save them a lot of heartache and pain. Don’t keep it to yourself. Pick up the phone. Help them win. Maybe you excelled in a college course that they’re struggling in. Don’t sit back and think, “Too bad. They’ve got to learn it the hard way.” No, you are the hands and feet of God. When you help others rise higher, you are fulfilling His mission. Today, share your love, support and encouragement. Invest life in others, see their potential, and together, you’ll rise higher into the blessing God has for you!
