Choose to Bless your Future

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live” – Deuteronomy 30:19.

Did you know that with your words you can either bless your future or curse your future? Your words have creative power. If you want to know what your life is to going to be like five years from now, just listen to what you’re saying about yourself today. Too many people go around saying, “I´ll never get well. I´ll never get out of debt.” “It´s flu season. I´ll probably get it.” “This misery is going to get over.” Then they wonder why they don´t see things turn around. It´s because they´re calling defeat into their future. They´re calling in mediocrity. Don´t let that be you!

When you get up in the morning, no matter how you feel, no matter what things look like, instead of using your words to describe your situation, use your words to change your situation. Make a declaration of faith by saying, “This is going to be a great day. I have God´s favor. He´s directing my steps.” When you do that, you are choosing to bless your future. You are calling in favour, increase, and opportunities. You are opening the door for God to move on your behalf so you can live the abundant life He has for you!

Get Excited About the Future

“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day” – Proverbs 4:18

No matter what is happening in your life today, as a believer in Jesus, you have a reason to be excited about your future! If things seem dark right now, know that the dawn will soon appear. The key is you have to remember that you are not here by accident. You have a purpose and destiny to fulfill, and He isn’t finished with you yet. Your best days are not behind you; your best days are out in front of you.

One thing I know is that God is a God of increase. He has greater things in store for your future than you have experienced in your past. His dream for your future is so much bigger than your own. He wants to take you places that you’ve never dreamed and open up doors that you’ve never imagined. He wants to bring talent out of you that you didn’t even know you had. He wants to increase you and cause you to be a greater blessing to the people around you.

Today, get your hopes up and get excited about your future! Begin to thank Him for what He has in store. Keep standing, keep believing and keep moving forward because God has explosive blessings in store for you!

Investing in the future

Many people actively follow the stock market and analyze the growth or decline in their retirement funds. Unfortunately, we are not always as studious when it comes to understanding the character and growth of our own heart. Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). Jesus fully understood human nature. He did not say that we invest in what we care about. He declared that our heart follows our money! If we dole out substantial amounts of money on material things, those things will consume our affections and attentions. If we buy a stock or a dream home, we will immediately give them our attention and concern.

That was the rich young ruler’s dilemma. He wanted to care about eternal things, but his wealth was committed to temporal concerns. Jesus invited him to become His disciple and to help change the world, but he could not escape money’s grip on his life. Perhaps the reason his story is recounted in three of the four Gospels (Matthew 19:16-22; Mark 10:17-22; Luke 18:18-23) is because so many of us identify with him and his struggle.

It is not wrong to be rich, but if you possess wealth, it has to be for the glory of God.

What Defines Your Future?

“You will also declare a thing, and it shall be established…” – Job 22:28

In the Old Testament there was an Israelite woman who was about to give birth. She had just heard that the Ark of the Covenant that housed God’s presence had been stolen. She was so upset about it that she named her baby boy Ichabod, which means “the glory has departed.” Notice what she did; she named her future by what was happening in her present. She could have just as easily named him “the glory will return,” but she was so focused on the negative, so caught up in where she was at that moment that she defined her future by it.

Friend, don’t ever name your future by your present day circumstances. You may have had some hard times in the past, but get that “Ichabod” spirit off of you. It may look like you’re stuck in a rut and you don’t really see how you could ever rise any higher, but don’t speak defeat over your life. Instead, name your future: blessed, prosperous, successful, victorious, healthy, whole, strong, talented, creative, wise. Declare what God’s Word says so that you can move forward in the destiny He has prepared for you!
