The Greatness of His Power

“…and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe…” – Ephesians 1:19

Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:19 that we would understand the exceeding greatness of God’s power for those who believe. Notice the power is only activated when we believe. That means right now the Creator of the universe is just waiting to release healing, restoration, favour, promotion, abundance. The only catch is that we have to believe.

Has God placed a dream in your heart that seems impossible? If you will choose to believe, then His strength will rise up in you. His ability will supersede your ability, and the greatness of His power will bring to pass every dream and every desire He has placed within you!

God Measures Greatness by Services, not Status

“Whoever wants to be great must become a servant”. – Mark 10:43.

The world defines greatness in terms of power, possessions, prestige & position. In our self-serving culture with its me-first mentality, acting like a servant is not a popular concept. God measures greatness in terms of service, not status. God determines your greatness by how many people you serve. This is so contrary to the world’s idea of greatness that we have a hard time understanding it, much less practicing it.

Thousands of books have been written on leadership, but few on servant hood. Everyone wants to lead, no one wants to be a servant. Even believers want to be “servant-leaders” not servants. Having the heart of a servant is more important. God shaped you for service, not for self-centeredness. Without a servant’s heart, you will be tempted to misuse your shape for personal gain.

God often tests our hearts by asking us to serve in ways we’re not shaped. Your primary ministry should be in the area of your shape, but your secondary service is wherever you’re needed at the moment. Your shape reveals your ministry, but your servant’s heart will reveal your maturity.

Anyone can be a servant. All it requires is the Character.

The Greatness of His Favor

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us…raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus”- Ephesians 2:4-7

Oftentimes, people set their focus on what God has done in the past—how He parted the Red Sea or stopped the sun for Joshua or fed thousands of people with just a little boy’s small lunch. Yes, God has performed many amazing miracles throughout history, and it’s important that we give Him praise and glory, but at the same time, we also have to look forward to what God wants to do in our lives today. In this verse, Paul says that “in the ages to come” God would do things that far supersede anything He’s ever done before. I believe that the “ages to come” that he’s talking about is this day and time we’re living in right now. God wants to outdo Himself in our generation!

Remember, God is a God of increase. Where you are today is not where you are supposed to stay. He has greater levels of His favor and blessing in store for you. Dare to dream big! Dare to keep a God-sized vision in front of you! Dare to take hold of every blessing that the Lord has in store for you!
