Wise Men and their Gifts

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east and have come to worship Him” … And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense and myrrh. – Matthew 2:1, 2, 11.

The three wise men who were eagerly waiting for the birth of Christ, travelled all the way and came to visit Him. The wise men might have travelled for months anticipating the time of the birth of Christ. There were other learned men in the court of Herod, the chief priests and the scribes who also knew about the birth of Christ that was to place in the Bethlehem, however it were the wise men who sought and were able to see Christ.

The wise men also presented meaningful gifts to express their excitement as they were aware of the person they were to see.

Even today, as we are aware of the birth of Christ, we tend to ignore the importance as the Chief priests and the scribes because we think about ourselves so called learned, even though we are aware of the importance of the event. This is the time to seek and find the Christ in our lives, to renew ourselves in His love and lead ourselves in the way Christ desired us to be, this can be our precious gift that He expects from us.
