Jesus Saves

One day Jesus and Satan were arguing about who had the greatest computer skills. They argued and argued. When they had drawn a crowd of onlookers and were still going at it hot and heavy, the angels– fallen and not–started to take sides and make bets.

Well God had had quite enough of this and decided to intervene. He told Jesus and Satan that there would be a programming contest between the two that would settle the argument of who was better.

They both began programming day and night to win the contest. They were at their computers for an eternity when ZAP came a flash of lightning from God and their screens went blank.

The day of reckoning had come. “Well, let’s see what you have done”, said God. So, Satan reboots his computer calls up his program and the screen is blank. Nothing! He turns, smiles and looks at Jesus.

Jesus reboots his computer, calls up his program, and an infinite universe appears: Colorful, luminescent, in breathtaking 3-D, with populations of people and animals, building, working, eating, loving, giving birth, and dying.

“THAT’S NOT FAIR,” shouted Satan.

“Oh, yes it is,” God said, “JESUS SAVES.”

How Much

Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting.

“Yes, sir, just caught me a world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used the bait I knew they couldn’t resist.
And I Got Um all!”

“What are you going to do with them?” Jesus asked.

Satan replied,
“Oh, I’m gonna have fun!
I’m gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other,
how to hate and abuse each other,
how to drink and smoke and curse.
I’m gonna teach them how to invent guns
and bombs and kill each other.
I’m really gonna have fun!”

How Much

“And what will you do when you get done with them?” Jesus asked.

“Oh, I’m not going to do anything with them. After I have taught them all I know, they will take care of the rest. All I will need to do is sit back and enjoy.” Satan glared proudly.

“How much do you want for them?” Jesus asked.

“Oh, you don’t want these people.
They ain’t no good.
Why, you’ll take them and they’ll just turn their backs on you. They’ll spit on you, and they’ll curse you !
You don’t want those people!!”

“How much?” Jesus asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered,
“All your blood, and all your tears,
you will have to give your life to get these people.”

Jesus said, “It’s a Deal!”

HE PAID THE PRICE !!

My Attorney

After living what I felt was a “decent” life, my time on earth came to the end. The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house.

The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table. As I looked around I saw the “prosecutor.” He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen. I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney, a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me, I felt I knew Him.

The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes. He commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room. I couldn’t take my eyes off Him. As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, “Let us begin.” The prosecutor rose and said, “My name is Satan and I am here to show you why this man belongs in hell.”

He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole, and in the past when I cheated others. Satan told of other horrible Perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the
further down in my seat I sank. I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t look at anyone, even my own Attorney, as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about. As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about me, I was equally upset at My Attorney who sat there silently, not offering any form of defense at all. I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had done some good in my life – couldn’t that at least equal out part of the harm I’d done? Satan finished with a fury and said, “This man belongs in hell, he is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person who can prove otherwise.”

When it was his turn, My Attorney first asked if He might approach the bench. The Judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan, and beckoned Him to come forward.

As He got up and started walking, I was able to see Him in His full splendor and majesty. I realized why He seemed so familiar; this was Jesus representing me, my Lord and my Savior.

He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge, “Hi, Dad,” and then He turned to address the court. “Satan was correct in saying that this man had sinned, I won’t deny any of these allegations. And, yes, the wages of sin is death, and this man deserves to be punished.”

Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with outstretched arms and proclaimed, “However, I died on the cross so that this person might have eternal life and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so he is Mine.” My Lord continued with, “His name is written in the book of life
and no one can snatch him from Me. Satan still does not understand. This man is not to be given
justice, but rather mercy.”

As Jesus sat down, He quietly paused, looked at His Father and said, “There is nothing else that needs to be done. I’ve done it all.” The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down. The following words bellowed from His lips..

“This man is free.” The penalty for his sin has already been paid in full. Case dismissed.”

As my Lord led me away, I could hear Satan ranting and raving, “I won’t give up, I will win the next one.” I asked Jesus as He gave me instructions where to go next, “Have you ever lost a case?” Christ lovingly smiled and said, “Everyone that has come to Me and asked Me to represent them  has received the same verdict as you,

Turn Towards Him

When Jesus was tempted, He didn’t debate the devil. He quoted Scripture: “It is written … It is written … It is written …” (Matthew 4:4-10). And each time the devil was defeated.

Satan can be defeated! When we are filled with the Spirit of God, obeying God, in His will and quoting Scripture, Satan will be defeated. The devil left Jesus, and angels came and helped Him. What are we doing when we are surrounded with problems, are we looking for help around are are we looking for help from above? Most of the problems occur in our life when we walk against the scriptures or the word of God. But God is almighty to change things his way if we turn towards him for the help we require.

Sale

Once upon a time, Satan was having a garage sale. There, standing in little groups were all of his bright, shiny trinkets. Here were tools that make it easy to tear others down for use as stepping stones. And over there were some lenses for magnifying ones own importance, which, if you looked through them the other way, you could also use to belittle others, or even one’s self. Against the wall was the usual assortment of gardening implements guaranteed to help your pride grow by leaps and bounds: the rake of scorn, the shovel of jealousy for digging a pit for your neighbor, the tools of gossip and backbiting, of selfishness and apathy. All of these were pleasing to the eye and came complete with fabulous promises and guarantees of prosperity. Prices, of course, were steep; but not to worry! Free credit was extended to one and all. “Take it home, use it, and you won’t have to pay until later!” old Satan cried, as he hawked his wares.

The visitor, as he browsed, noticed two well worn, non-descript tools standing in one corner. Not being nearly as tempting as the other items, he found it curious that these two tools had price tags higher than any other. When he asked why, Satan just laughed and said, “Well, that’s because I use them so much. If they weren’t so plain looking, people might see them for what they were.” Satan pointed to the two tools, saying, “You see, that one’s Doubt and that one’s Discouragement — and those will work when nothing else will.”
