Abundant Life Today

“…I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” – John 10:10

Are you living the abundant life Jesus came to give? I’m not talking about living in the fanciest house or driving the newest car. No, His promise of abundant life goes way beyond material things that this world offers. Abundant life means “life to the full.” That means no matter what is going on around you, you can partake of the full blessings of God. You can have peace in the midst of a storm. You can have joy when things are uncertain. You can have hope when circumstances seem hopeless.

As believers, a lot of times it’s easy to look at that verse and think, “God is going to give me abundant life someday.” But the truth is that God wants you to have abundant life TODAY!

Don’t waste another second living in mediocrity or settling for less than God’s best. Receive His blessings by faith today. Receive His hope, joy, strength and favor. Declare that you are living the abundant life today and every day!

How to Start the Day Today?

“Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud on their beds” – Psalms 149:5

As you woke up this morning, what was the first thing that went through your mind? Did you wake up with a song of praise on your lips?

When we start the day in worship, we start the day connected to Almighty God. When we live a lifestyle of praise, it shows that our faith is constantly in Him. We make glorifying God a priority. It’s not secondary, “Oh, if I have time.” No, you’re always talking about God’s goodness. You’re constantly telling your friends how God has blessed you. In your car, you’re singing songs of praise. At the office, under your breath, you’re thanking God for His favor. You get up in the morning and say, “God, I love You today. I praise You today. Thank You for another beautiful day.” Then, when you go to bed at night, you bless Him for His faithfulness!

Friend, when you have the high praises of God coming out of your mouth, the scripture says Almighty God will go to war against your enemies. Praise precedes the victory, so start the day right and live a lifestyle of praise!

Make the Most of Today

I may never see tomorrow; there’s no written guarantee,
And things that happened yesterday belong to history,

I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past,
I have just the present moment, I must treat it as my last,

I must use this moment wisely for it soon will pass away,
and be lost to me forever as part of yesterday,

I must exercise compassion, help the fallen to their feet,
Be a friend unto the friendless, make an empty life complete,

The unkind things I do today may never be undone,
And friendships that I fail to win may nevermore be won,

I may not have another chance on bended knee to pray,
And thank God with a humble heart for giving me this day.

Maximize This Day

‘This is the day the Lord has made.’ Psalm 118:24

God determines the number of your days, but you determine how they are spent.

The Psalmist said, ‘This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.’

Yesterday is a cancelled cheque, tomorrow is a promissory note, today is all you’ve got.

And you can begin your life over today, if you live by these words: ‘Today I will delete from my diary two days-yesterday and tomorrow. Yesterday was for learning; tomorrow will be a consequence of what I do today.

Today I will face life with the conviction that this day will never return, that it may be the last opportunity I’ll have to contribute because there’s no guarantee I’ll see tomorrow.

Today I will be courageous enough not to let opportunity pass me by; my only alternative will be to succeed.

Today I will invest my most valuable resource, my time, into my most important possession, the life God has given me. I’ll spend each minute purposefully, making today a unique opportunity.

I’ll tackle each obstacle knowing that with God’s help I can overcome it.

Today I will resist doubt and pessimism and warm my world with a smile.

I’ll maintain a strong faith, expect nothing but the best, take time to be happy, see every task as an opportunity to honour the Lord, and Endeavour to leave His footprints on the hearts of those I meet.’

John Boykin wrote, ‘Time is your life-nothing more, nothing less. The way you spend your hours and your days, is the way you spend your life.’

So pray, ‘Lord, help me to maximize this day.’

Focus On Today

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept from fear and apprehension. One of these days is yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is beyond recall.

The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow, with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promises, and perhaps its poor performance. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow’s sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.

This leaves only one day – today. Anyone can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burden of those two awful eternity’s, yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives us mad. It is the remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday or the dread of what tomorrow may bring. Let us, therefore, do our best to live one day at a time.
